TalkTalk YouView

TalkTalk has launched two new entertainment packages including broadband for just £2.50 per month and YouView for £7.50. See also: TalkTalk YouView review.

SimplyBroadband offers customers just that, broadband internet – of the unlimited variety - on its own for just £2.50 per month. TalkTalk says that's a saving of £250 when compared to BT's Unlimited Broadband package.

TalkTalk has also launched a new Essentials TV package to entice more customers to YouView. The deal costs £7.50 per month and includes totally unlimited broadband and evening and weekend calls.

The catch is that customers will be given a cheaper, downgraded version of the YouView box. It's worth £149 instead of £299 and doesn't have a built-in hard drive to record programs.

It's aimed at Freeview customers who want the extra functionality of on-demand services such as BBC iPlayer, but don't want to pay through the nose.

Dido Harding, CEO of TalkTalk said: "This is TalkTalk doing what it does best, giving consumers access to exciting new products at unbeatable prices and the launch of Essentials TV underpins our role as Britain’s fastest growing TV service. Each week thousands more homes are signing up to YouView from TalkTalk because of our great value offering. TalkTalk is at an exciting stage of its growth and momentum is only increasing."

TalkTalk also confirmed that it will be rolling out an update to the TalkTalk Player service to offer on-demand Sky Movies and Sky Sports content. The ISP said that this will be offered at no extra charge for those who subscribe to the Sky Movies and Sky Sports Boosts.
