It appears that in some cases, excited new iPad owners are being disappointed by a Temperature message after their iPad got too hot to use, according to many users on Apple's forum.
According to The Next Web, the message reads: “iPad needs to cool down before you can use it.”
Cases of the problem are quite varied with a lot of users reporting the bottom left hand corner, whilst holding the iPad in portrait mode, to be the location of the heat. It seems a main factor to the problem is using the iPad outdoors in direct sunlight.
However, other users are reporting no problems, saying it merely gets understandably ‘warm’.
Apple’s specification sheet says the iPad can operate in temperatures between 0° to 35° C. Its Non-operating temperature is -20° to 45° C.
It’s possible that the cause of the problem is the iPad’s improved specifications. A larger battery, faster, and larger, processor and high resolution screen could all contribute to heat. We’ve contacted Apple for its response to the issue but not had a reply yet.
