iTunes TV coming to Europe

Spring launch for Apple video downloads

Zoe Mutter

Apple is to extend its iTunes platform by launching a video and TV download service in Europe.

The service has been available in the United States since October 2005 but is expected to finally make an appearance in Europe this spring, with the operation to be based in Luxembourg. The online video service will provide full-length television series and will extend the iTunes Music Store platform.

Apple had been in discussions with Luxembourg authorities for several months about the new TV service. Other US companies such as Amazon have also chosen the location due to its low VAT rate for online services.
