Olympus is to offer a second MicroFourThirds camera in its retro-style PEN line of digital cameras. The Olympus PEN EP-2 will go onsale in the UK in January at a cost of £850.
Its key distinguishing feature will be the inclusion of a electronic viewfinder (EVF) that sits atop the main camera body. In June, Olympus unveiled the PEN EP-1, a compact digital SLR camera with a smaller lens than standard FourThirds models. It was criticised for having neither EVF nor a flash.

Philips has launched an 8in digital photo frame that offers Bluetooth connectivity and accepts almost any type of memory card. The Philips SPF7008 can receive photos sent wirelessly from a mobile phone.
The 8in screen has a standard 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 800x600 pixels. It has discreet touch-sensitive controls around the frame's edges, an auto-dimming mode to save energy and a 130-degree viewing angle. As well as initiating slideshow playback direct from a USB memory key or a removable memory card, the photo frame is able to play AVI, WMV and MOV video clips. The frame has a built-in speaker for this purpose. A comprehensive list of memory card formats is supported, from Secure Digital and SDHC to xD Picture Card and Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro DUO.

Ricoh has unveiled the GXR - its first digital camera that features interchangeable lenses.
The GXR measures 69×58x71mm, making it the size of a compact camera, but the interchangeable lenses gives the device the same picture quality and different scene shooting ability as an SLR.

A friend recently sent me a link to a site that was prominently using a photography I had taken of some wolves. The problem? I hadn't given the owners permission to use my photo, which they had 'borrowed' from my Flickr page.
I asked them to remove the photo, and they did - but not everyone out there is so reasonable. You can watermark your photos to prevent this sort of thing from happening. But there are some other ways to find your photos online and see if they're being used inappropriately.

Fuji's latest wide-angle compact is a 10Mp model with a 27mm lens, a 0.5in CCD and a 5x optical zoom.
Images can be previewed on its 2.7in LCD and are stabilised using a combination of high sensitivity and CCD shift vibration compensation. A 360-degree face-recognition feature can identify anyone anywhere within the frame and focus on them.

We don't usually often think of it this way, but photography is really about drawing pictures with light - which means that you can literally draw your own pictures by adding light to a photo in a controlled way.
Many years ago, before digital photography, I used to experiment with this sort of photo using long exposures and a torch.

Gear4 has come up with a handy accessory for the new video-enabled Apple iPod nano that allows you to show off the footage you've shot on a large screen.
The VideoBuddy clips on to the bottom of the nano and has AV (audio-video) connectors to hook it up to a TV screen or other display so you can display your videoing skills to the wider world - or at least your mum.

The TerraTec G3 is a video capture device that can be used to back up analogue recordings, old videotapes and camcorder recordings for instance. It imports your footage to your PC (or Mac) and then burns them to a DVD so your otherwise redundant footage is digitised and saved for posterity.

Medion has unveiled the Medion Life S4700 - splash-resistant flash camcorder capable of capturing 720p video.
The £99 digital camcorder measures 65x105x23mm, weighs 85g and features a 2in LCD display and 2x digital zoom. It will capture video at 1080x720p resolution and 30 frames per second (fps). It can also take still images at a resolution of 1280x720. These days, even the most basic cameraphone can capture more detail than this.

Casio used the IFA show in Berlin to add several cameras to its Exilim line. The cheapest of these is the Casio EX-Z90, a fun-focused 12.1Mp model that costs 150 euros and allows you to add animations to your photos.
The EX-Z90 features a 3x optical zoom, a 2.7in LCD screen and a claimed battery life of 230 shots. It comes in six colours: black, silver, pink, light pink, blue and gold.

Mustek's PF-A61 innovatively combines the roles of digital photo frame and scanner, meaning old snaps can be turned into a music-accompanied slideshow in moments, and with no PC called into action.

Canon has announced a brand-new high-end digital SLR camera, the EOS 7D. The 18Mp camera uses a DIGIC4 processor and has a top ISO setting of 12,800. It will go onsale later this month for £1,999.
Most digital cameras have ISO ratings of up to 3200. The 7D's ISO dial on the top right of the camera body goes up to 6400 but the ISO setting is expandable to 12,800 by invoking the camera's custom menus.

Samsung has announced a 12.5Mp 'bridge' digital camera that has a 26mm wideangle lens and a 24x optical zoom. The Samsung WB5000 will go onsale in the UK this month.
Samsung sees the launch of the WB5000 model as an important step forward in its bid to make an impact in the growing high-zoom area of digital photography. Such models combine the relatively compact dimensions of a pocket camera with the superior zoom functions usually found on digital SLR (single reflex models) which have detachable zoom lenses.

Canon has launched two new models in its Legria camcorder range. The Canon Legria HF S11 and the HF 21 can both record high-definition video to flash memory.
Both cameras feature a Dynamic Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) system. Canon says this helps eliminate camera shake during filming A dual flash recording feature of both camcorders allows users to capture video either to the internal 64GB flash memory or to a removable flash memory card. SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards of up to 64GB are accepted.

Canon has unveiled the Digital Ixus 200 IS - its first compact camera with a touchscreen. The Digital Ixus 200 IS will cost £329.
As well as using the 3in touchscreen to access the camera's menus, when composing an image users can tap a face that's in shot on the screen to make that person the focus of the photo. The subject chosen will be tracked automatically by the camera until your take your snap.
