Xara Web Designer 6 is a versatile design tool that makes it quick and easy to build attractive websites.
There's no previous HTML or web design experience required, as the program comes with a range of professionally designed templates to help you get started. And new to this version, each theme now includes a fully linked-up 8-page website, so you could simply replace the default content with your own and the site will be ready to do.
You're not restricted to these templates, though. They can be customised just by dragging and dropping page elements, rearranging them to suit your needs. You're able to drag in new text panels, headings, buttons, images, whatever you like. Navigation bars and menus can be tweaked to alter how they work, and including thumbnails, mouseover effects and pop-ups will add extra impact.
If regular static content isn't quite enough, then Web Designer widgets will help you embed Google Maps, Picasa photo albums, YouTube clips, RSS news feeds, Paypal "Buy" links, slideshows and more. Just choose the widget, drag and drop it onto the page, configure it to suit your requirements and you're ready to go.
When you're finished, a built-in FTP client will upload the site to your host. (The program now uploads only the files that have changed since the last publish operation, saving you a great deal of time.)
