There are plenty of weather applications that will tell you what it's like in your area, right now, but only YoWindow takes this to the logical next step: it shows you.
What you get is an attractive countryside scene that changes according to your local weather conditions. Whether it's raining, snowing, foggy, windy, or there's a thunderstorm outside, it'll be mirrored within YoWindow. And this is an animated image, not just a static picture, so you'll see the raindrops fall, the bushes blow in the breeze, lights turn on and off in that building in the distance.
The landscape is surprisingly accurate in other ways, too. It changes colour according to the season, green in summer fading to the yellows of autumn; the sun rises and sets at the place and time you'd expect; even the moon phase is correct for your chosen location.
Okay, it's true, although clever this isn't actually too useful. It's fun to play around with, though, and makes an unusual screensaver. YoWindow will also display your current weather statistics (temperature, pressure, wind speed, humidity and so on), as well as the forecast for the next few days, so it does have a practical, as well as an entertainment value. And an extensive Options dialog lets you customise every aspect of how the program works, making it easy to deliver precisely the reporting and forecasting functionality that you need.
Well, almost. This is the free version, and has two limitations: the weather forecast displays only 3 days ahead, and you're restricted to saving only two favourite locations. If that's a problem for you then upgrade to the Unlimited version, instead, which allows weather forecasts of up to 8 days and as many "favourite locations" as you like. It's yours for a one-time payment of $9.99 (see below).
Note that Mac version is still v2.x.
