Nero Move It

Nero Move It is a one-stop transcoding tool that can transfer all your multimedia files from your PC to many other devices, re-encoding them to the appropriate formats as it works.

The program supports all the main video files formats: AVI, WMV, MPEG, MPEG-4 (though not in the trial version) and more. But that's not all. Move It also works with audio and video files. So you can convert your MP3, OGG or WMA files, say, or transfer your latest digital photos, resizing them to be viewable on your mobile phone.

By default there's no need to specify complicated file format settings, as Move It already understands what's required for all supported devices. You do have the option to choose a user-defined device profile, though, which will give you complete control over every detail: file format, resolution and frame rate, bit and sample rates, and more.

Nero Move It isn't just about file conversions, though. As its name suggests, the program can also move files to and from supported devices, recognising them as they're connected and pushing and pulling content as you've defined. It can even transfer files directly to your YouTube, MySpace or My Nero accounts.

Which devices does it support? Nero's site has the official list, but there are complications. Some iPod device support depends on OS version, for instance, and you may need to use iTunes to sync; other devices not on the list might work just fine. The simplest approach is to forget the small print, though - just download and install the trial version and see how it works for you.
