RedLaser 2.2

The quality of the iPhone’s camera may have been called into question on several occasions, but RedLaser shows that it can be put to excellent use. When you’re out shopping, it is difficult and time consuming to compare prices of the same product in different shops. While it is possible to visit a price comparison site, this can still be a lengthy process. RedLaser can be used to do all of the hard work for you.

The app is a price comparison tool which works by using product barcodes to compare prices at a number of online shops. Fire up the app, use the camera to take a shot of the barcode of the product you are interested in, and within seconds a list of retailers who stock it will be displayed, complete with prices and contact details – barcodes can also be types in manually if necessary

Variations in pricing mean that huge saving can be made on individual products, from books and CDs to household goods, and these mount up over time. RedLaser is an essential purchase for all iPhone owners, who will quickly find that barcode scanning becomes something of a hobby.
