MobileFamilyTree 7.1

Most family history apps on the iPad or iPhone are either basic GEDCOM readers or linked to online services such as Ancestry. If you’re looking for a fully fledged family history app, capable of taking in all your research notes, media and the like, then look no further than MobileFamilyTree.

It’s from the same stable as MacFamilyTree, and if not quite identical is close to being a carbon copy in terms of functionality and how it works. That makes it a compelling add-on for MacFamilyTree users – particularly as you can now sync your research between both apps using iCloud – but it’s also more than capable of working as a completely independent app.

In terms of features you’ve got everything you need for building, navigating and displaying your family tree, including full editing capabilities and support for generating reports, charts and even maps where you can plot the places where individual ancestors lived.

The only downside is a complete lack of trial version, but you can get a feel for how it works by installing the demo version of MacFamilyTree – there really is little to separate this from MobileFamilyTree.

Despite the minor version number change, MobileFamilyTree 7.1 is very much as "huge" an update as Synium claims. Here’s a list of all major changes:
+ Completely new iOS 7-inspired user interface
+ AirPlay Video support
+ Completely new Interactive Tree
+ Improved data entry
+ Statistic Maps
+ Private Information
+ FamilySearch improvements
+ Improved database browser/startup screen, configureable GEDCOM export, performance improvements, and improved in-place help/documentation

Platforms: iPad, iPhone
Version: 7.0
Licence: No Trial Available. Purchase Only
Manufacturer: Synium Software
