Copy is a cloud storage service which provides 15GB of cloud storage space for free, and allows you to share files across multiple devices (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, Android).
We tested the Windows client, and the core installation was simple enough: work through the usual setup dialogs, provide a few details to create your Copy account and the system was ready to go.
There was one notable problem, though, in that the installer somehow managed to kill Explorer, leaving us with no taskbar or Start menu. If this happens to you then recovery is easy - press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to launch Task Manager, click File > Run, type EXPLORER and click OK - but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the program.
With that out of the way, though, Copy followed a reasonably familiar pattern. It added a Copy folder to our system, and anything we dragged and dropped there would be uploaded to our storage space. Folders there can be shared with others. And there are a few configuration options to keep everything running smoothly (in particular, you can limit the upload and/ or download bandwidth used by Copy to ensure it doesn't slow your system down too much).
What's more, Copy's referral program means you can earn an extra 5GB of extra storage for yourself and every new user you introduce to the service.
And paid accounts are reasonably priced, too, with 250GB of online space available for an annual $99.
In our tests, the Windows copy client was the weak point here. The installation issue was a concern, file uploads could take a long time to begin, and there's no way to tell when a particular file is online (other than going to the website to look).
You may have more success, though, and it's also possible that other platforms will see better results. If you're looking for some free online storage then Copy might be worth a try.
