Anvi Ultimate Defrag is a straightforward tool which uses several different techniques to optimise your hard drive and so improve system performance.
The program is surprisingly easy to use. Choose the drive's you'd like to process, click Start, and Anvi Ultimate Defrag goes to work, repairing any file system problems, cleaning up junk files, defragmenting and finally optimizing your drive.
If you prefer a more hands on approach, though, don't worry, the Settings dialog allows you to fine-tine exactly what the program does. You're able to run defrags at boot time or on a schedule, for instance. You can choose how to treat SSDs and external drives, and whether notebooks should run defrags when the system is running on batteries.
Perhaps more importantly, you can also configure your "hot zone", a slightly confusing name which apparently just refers to the way your PC is used. Tell Anvi Ultimate Defrag that your system is mainly for browsing, work or gaming, say, and Anvisoft claims the program will adjust its defrag mode accordingly to deliver even better results.
Is the program really worth its asking price, an annual $29.98? We're not sure. There are some very good free defrag tools around, and although this does include some extras (the disk cleaner, and so on), there's nothing too exceptional here.
The program is fast and extremely easy to use, though, which may be appealing if other defrag tools seem too complex. It helped to notably improve performance on our test PC, too, so if you're willing to consider a commercial defrag program then it might be worth taking this 15-day trial build for a spin.
