Twitter Music 1.0.1

The Twitter platform is a great way to keep in touch with friends and colleagues, stay up to date with the latest news, and maintain contact with companies and artists you like. Twitter Music is a dedicated app for iOS users that make it possible to use Twitter to discover new music. Just as the site is able to recommend other users that you may be interested in based on who you currently follow, the same technique is used to recommend music you might like.

The concept is a very simple one, but it is one that work very well. Now Twitter will recommend tracks to you according to who you follow. This is more than simply giving you the name of a track or artists to try to hunt down for yourself as there is the option of listening to previews so you can see if it is something you like.

There are currently three linked audio services - iTunes, Rdio and Spotify – that can be used to listen to previews and this gives a quick and easy way to sample tracks before considering purchasing them. If your favorite band or artist has a Twitter presence, you can keep tabs on the music they tweet about and follow on Twitter and this again is a great way to discover new sounds.

Similarly, you can view details of the music your friends and other people you follow are tweeting about or following. As Twitter has trending topics that enable you to see what other users are talking about, so you can keep abreast of the latest musical trends.

This iOS app is optimized for iPhones – so no dedicated iPad version at the moment, but the Twitter Music website can be used to access the service on other devices as well.
