Malwarebytes Secure Backup is an online backup service (created in partnership with SOS Online Backup) which scans your files with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, before uploading. And so if you're ever infected by a virus and want to restore a backup, you can be secure in the knowledge that it's malware-free. Or if you want to share a file with others then, again, you'll all know that it's clean.
After installation you'll be prompted to create a 5GB 14-day trial account. This is simple enough - enter your name, email address, password and so on - and despite the talk of "trials", there's no payment information or anything else required. But if you do decide to upgrade later, there will be 50GB ($29.95 per year), 100GB ($59.95 per year) and 200GB ($119.95) packages available (click "Upgrade Now" for more information).
Once your account has been set up, Secure Backup scans your system for documents, pictures, music and videos, and shows you how much backup space each of these will require. Backing up a particular category is as easy as checking a box, but if you want to be more selective (or your data just won't fit in the 5GB space available) then a "do not scan" option allows you to select files manually.
The final step involves setting up a backup schedule. You can run your backups at intervals of anything from an hour to a month, and if you choose the Email option then you'll be sent a report whenever your backup job ends.
If you don't have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed then you should grab a copy now. Malwarebytes Secure Backup uses the program, but it won't install it - you'll have to do that for yourself.
Once that's done, though, the Secure Backup console provides all the tools you need. There are options to run your backup on demand and restore particular files or folders, as well as configure some useful settings (include and exclude filters, for instance).
And there's also a web portal which allows you to access and restore your files from anywhere, as well as share particular files or folders with others.
