Bitdefender 60 Second Virus Scanner 1.0.1.357

Bitdefender 60 Second Virus Scanner is a simple, cloud-based tool which can be used as an extra layer of malware protection for your PC.

The program is fully compatible with other security tools, so you can install it without worrying about conflicts or other hassles. A very straightforward desktop gadget then allows you to run your first scan, and because it only checks a few critical system areas it really does only take 60 seconds (there's even an on-screen timer, to prove it).

The problem? 60 Second Virus Scanner is cloud-based, so our scan data was despatched over the internet, and we then waited for a verdict. Eventually more messages appeared as the program was checking this, analyzing that, and after 281 seconds we were finally told that our system was clean.

281 seconds still isn't too bad, of course. At least, until you notice that even in this time, the program only managed to scan 32 processes and 1,415 files. That's not exactly speedy.

Bitdefender 60 Second Virus Scanner has some good points. It seems very compatible with other security tools; the program can scan critical areas in real time, and run more general checks every day; and it's ultra-simple: you can leave 60 Second Virus Scanner installed and forget it's even there.

The reality is the program doesn't have time to do much at all in its 60 seconds, though, and so any extra protection it can offer is going to be very limited. Most people will probably be better off with something else.
