True Image Lite 2013 by Acronis Beta

True Image Lite 2013 beta is stripped down version of the Acronis True Image backup tool, which you can try for free.

And it really is stripped down. There are no disk, partition, email or file backup types on offer here, for instance: just nonstop backup and online backup.

There's no support for full or differential backups, either (it's incremental only). No support for backing up to CD, DVD or Blu-ray. No scheduling, and no option to create a bootable recovery disc.

By way of compensation, though, True Image Lite 2013 is extremely easy to use. Starting a backup is as simple as clicking "Nonstop Backup", choosing some folders to protect - "Documents", "Pictures", "Music", say - and a destination folder. And that's it, the program will back up your files automatically.

Obviously, as this is a beta, you probably shouldn't use it as your sole backup tool. It will certainly contain bugs (and indeed crashed a couple of times on our test PC, for no apparent reason).

If you're an Acronis fan, though, it may be worth a try just to see what the company is doing next. (And the top 10 beta testers will receive a free licence for the program.)

Please note, you will need a serial code to use True Image Lite 2013. To get a serial code and to participate in the beta programme, go here http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimagelite/beta.html
