JogoBox 1 beta

JogoBox is a simple tool which makes it easy to find and play thousands of games, all for free and with no registration required.

The JogoBox client neatly organises its offerings into eight categories - Adventure, Brain, Fighting, Girls, PC Games, Racing, Skills and Sports - and choosing any of these will display matching games. So clicking "Brain", for instance, revealed versions of Tetris, Mahjong, Bejeweled and assorted similar favourites.

But there's plenty more on offer here, including big names like Sid Meier's Civilization, Command and Conquer: Red Alert, Wing Commander, Warcraft, Transport Tycoon, DiscWorld, and the list goes on.

And while most of these are very very old indeed, JogoBox have done their best to make them playable on modern hardware by bundling them with DOSBox.

So if you decide you'd like to play Command and Conquer: Red Alert, for instance, you'll first have to wait for the more than 500MB download. But once it arrives, there are no installation hassles, no configuration concerns at all. The program simply opened in a window on our test PC, ready to play immediately.

JogoBox does offer more than just links to ancient game setup files, then, and is probably worth installing just to see what the service has to offer.
