Adguard is a commercial ad and pop-up blocker which supports IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari and several other browsers.
The program works automatically, for the most part. Once it's installed there's no great need to do anything more: just surf the web as normal and most ads disappear.
If you do have problems, though, there are plenty of configuration options which may be able to help. You can adjust the basic Adguard protection level, for instance; perhaps turn the program off when you're using particular browsers; and it's even possible to view the low-level rules used by the ad blocker, selectively disable anything which doesn't suit your needs, or even create new filters of your own.
One down side of all this power is that Adguard does appear to need a lot of system resources. After browsing the program for a while on our test system it was hogging almost 80MB of RAM.
And it's not cheap, either, with even a 1-year, single PC licence costing $14.95. Unless the free ad blockers just don't have the power you need, we'd probably recommend you give Adguard a miss.
