Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8

Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 is a simple disk imaging tool which runs on Windows 8/ Server 2012, and supports Microsoft's new Resilient File System (ReFS). (Although it also appears to run just fine on Windows 7 and with NTFS/ FAT32 drives, from our initial tests.)

The program is very straightforward, essentially providing just four functions.

"Backup" launches the Backup Wizard, which allows you to choose the drive or partition you'd like to image. There are plenty of configuration options here, too, so you can control the backup's compression level, apply Include or Exclude filters (you might choose not to back up *.TMP files, say), enable VSS support, add password-protection to your archive, and more.

Your archive can then be saved to local or network drives, a physical partition, or burned to CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs.

And elsewhere, clicking "Transfer Files" allows you to restore individual files or folders from a backup; "Restore" will restore the complete image; and "Burn Recovery Media" creates a bootable CD, DVD or USB key so that you can recover your system drive if Windows will no longer boot.

You won't be overly amazed by the length of the feature list, then (particularly the lack of a scheduler), but Image Backup's support for Windows 8 and ReFS is more impressive, particularly for a free tool. If that's what really matters to you then go download a copy immediately.

Please note, you need to register first to get a serial code. Go here, register and Paragon will email you with details of the download link, as well as your product key and serial number.
