Uniblue MaxiDisk 2013 v1.0.3.10

Windows’ defrag tool is a fairly simple utility, and if you want anything slightly more advanced, you’re going to have to look elsewhere. There are a number of defragmenters that you could choose from, but if you view defragging as part of your overall system maintenance routine, it makes sense to take advantage of a tool that is part of a larger suite. Uniblue’s PowerSuite is an impressive collection of tools that have been designed to help you to improve and maintain the performance of your computer, and MaxiDisk is one of its components.

The application has three main sections, one of which - Gain Space - can be used to analyse your hard drive and determine how you can free up space. While disk space is not at the premium it used to be, having too much clutter on your drive contributes to it being inefficient. In addition to tracking down junk files, the scanner will also detect old backup files and enable you to compress large files to free up space.

Once you have maximized the amount of free space available on your drive you can turn to the Defrag section to help ensure that our files are optimally organized. This is a fairly simple set up and there are no options to configure – all you need to do is to set the analyser running and within a short space of time you will be provided with a report about the state of your drive. You can then decide whether or not to go through with the defragmentation.

One of the most important aspects of system maintenance is getting into a routine. Keeping on top of various tasks means that there is far less chance that your computer’s performance will deteriorate to an annoying level and MaxiDisk includes a scheduling option that can be used to automatically defrag your hard drive on a regular basis.

Note that the trial version only offers basic defragmentation support - no scheduling. Purchasing removes these limitations and MaxiDisk is part of Uniblue PowerSuite 2013.
