Internet Security 2013 is Bitdefender's mid-range security solution. It's missing some of the high-end features which you'll find in Bitdefender Total Security 2013 - encryption, file shredding, online backup/ secure file sharing, the new Anti-Theft feature to help locate stolen laptops - yet still has more than enough to cover most people's needs.
The feature list includes capable antivirus protection, for instance; a smart firewall, configurable spam filter, plenty of browsing and antiphishing protection, and some useful parental controls.
New tools this time start with SafePay, a secure virtualised browser which aims to protect your payment data while shopping or banking online.
Another big addition is the USB immunizer, which immunizes any flash drive to ensure it can't be infected by viruses.
There are worthwhile improvements in several areas. The parental controls are more powerful; many program features can now be managed remotely; and the suite is now generally easier to customise.
And all this is presented in a neat interface, which makes the program very straightforward to manage. Although if you turn on Bitdefender's Autopilot then you won't have much to do, as the program handles just about every security decision all on its own.
We like Bitdefender Total Security 2013, but if you don't need its online backup or anti-theft features then Internet Security 2013 is probably the better (and more economical) choice. Either way, if you're looking for a new commercial security suite then Bitdefender's 2013 range is something you need to check out.
