ESET Smart Security 6.0.316.0

ESET Smart Security 6 is a lightweight and capable internet security suite with a good range of features.

There's the usual on-access and on-demand file scanning, for instance. An intelligent firewall protects you from network attacks, without hassling you with alerts. A spam filter blocks junk mail, while parental controls can limit access to defined types of website.

And while this is all very easy to use, it's also highly configurable. Experts will appreciate the tweaks available via ESET's Host Intrusion Protection System, for instance, while a tool like the System Inspector offers a detailed view of what's happening on your PC at any one time.

Top of the "What's New?" list this time is ESET Anti-Theft, a new web service which aims to try and help you recover a lost or stolen PC.

Scanning improvements see the program now able to scan files as they're downloaded, rather than waiting for the entire file to arrive. While new idle time scans will help to detect threats on your PC, even if they're inactive.

A range of other enhancements include an improved firewall and better anti-phishing protection.

And maintenance improvements see you now able to roll back the previous virus signature update, if you believe it's unstable or corrupt.

Build 6.0.316.0 brings these minor changes:
