TuneSync Lite 2.27

Jealous of the fact iPod, iPhone and iPad users can now sync wirelessly with iTunes? If you’re an Android user, you need be jealous no more. TuneSync is a two-part solution to the problem of getting your iTunes music and playlists across to your Android phone, tablet or media player without having to first plug it in and then use a tool like Notpod to perform the sync for you.

The first part of the TuneSync solution is TrueSync Server, which you'll need to install on your Mac or PC. Once installed, it’ll sit there ready to go. Now all you need to do is download the TuneSync Android application and you’re ready to start wirelessly transferring from computer to Android device.

Unfortunately the Android app isn’t free, but you can at least give it a trial run using this, which allows you to sync up to 20 songs in one playlist. If you like what you see, you then uninstall the Lite version and purchase the full version for $5.99.

Once the app is installed, type in the name of your computer, then choose which playlists you wish to sync across – these can be custom playlists, your entire library or a subset (such as music, movies or TV shows, or any combination thereof). Then it’s a case of letting TuneSync get on with the job.

Mindful of the fact your first sync might involve a large amount of media, there’s a Wired Sync option, so you can transfer over the faster USB connection and then switch to wireless for your top-ups - note Wired Sync isn't compatible with Honeycomb. There’s even an option to transfer Amazon MP3 purchases back from your Android device to your desktop and add them to your iTunes library.

In theory it's the perfect match, and when paired with a Windows machine works well. However, many Mac users have reported problems with the latest version (2.0.8) for OS X and we too ran into similar problems. This will hopefully be addressed with a future release, but until then Mac users should tread with caution.
