iTuner - The iTunes Companion 1.4.4322

If you own an iPod, iPad or iPhone, or even if you have a different brand of MP3 player, the chances are that you use iTunes to manage your media library and play music. And if you have spent any time working with the application, you will have no doubt discovered that while Apple’s software is powerful and feature packed, it is also rather slow and bloated.

iTuner is a free tool that can be used to enhance iTunes and make it easier and faster to use by providing access to a range of common options from the system tray. A simple and attractive pop up displays information about the currently playing track, and you can use keyboard shortcuts or on-screen buttons to navigate between tracks and adjust volume.

When you’re listening to music you can choose to have the lyrics automatically downloaded from any of a number of online providers, and you can use the app to monitor your ‘watch folders’ and keep new music synched with your library. Tracks can be converted between formats as well.

Other features that can be found in the program include the option to clean up your music library by remove dead tracks, but you can also convert tracks between formats and synchronize your music collection to your MP3 player. iTuner is a great deal quicker to use than the full version of iTunes, and the fact that it can be easily accessed no matter what you are doing will prove to be a great time-saver.
