RealWorld Photos 2011.1 is a capable and easy-to-use photo editor which is optimised for web publishers.
The authors claim the program "linearizes... color values while internally working with higher precision", which, they say, means "RealWorld Photos is able to maintain correct colors and produce smooth edges of all drawn shapes".
More clearly useful is the program's ability to minimise quality loss when you resave JPEGs. RealWorld Photos only recompresses the parts of a photo that you edit, so if, say, you simply make a tiny correction to one small area of the image, then the rest of it will be resaved from the original image - so there will be no loss in quality.
Of course RealWorld Photos also includes the usual editing basics: it can resize and rotate images, add borders or watermarks, insert text captions, adjust levels, colours, brightness and more.
There are also many more advanced features: a drawing tool, EXIF editing, a vignetting correction option, layer support, many mask tools, even JavaScript-based scripting.
And RealWorld Photos also has batch processing abilities, which mean you can apply most of its other features to an entire folder of photos all at once, perhaps resizing, correcting colour and contrast issues without ever having to open a single image yourself.
