Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6 is the next generation of the company's flagship antivirus tool.
This new build focuses strongly on performance. The program has a much reduced impact on boot times, for instance; a reputation-based system allows the program to avoid scanning trustworthy files until they change, improving scan times; and the company say an entirely new multithreaded scanning engine means Anti-Malware 6 is on average 450% faster than 5.1 when performing on-demand scans.
Elsewhere, the program now accesses your drives directly, enabling it to bypass file-based rootkits with ease.
And there are a host of usability improvements all around the package. So groups of settings, like the file extensions you'd like Anti-Malware to scan, now come with a "Reset Defaults" option so you can restore the initial settings at a click. And if you want to take some action which can't be undone - delete a file from quarantine, say - then you'll now usually be asked for confirmation.
Build 6.6 is a major upgrade. See the changelog for more details.
