MAGIX Photo Manager 10 is a comprehensive image organiser that can quickly bring order to the messiest of digital photo collections.
And we do mean "quickly". Point the program at a folder packed with photos and you're instantly able to sort them according to Photo Manager's "automatic categories". Clicking "Bright colours" displays all your daytime shots, for instance, while "Warm colours" shows your sunsets, and "Horizontal structures" tends to collect natural panorama shots, perhaps of beaches or fields - perfect if you're looking to create a set of matching shots for a slideshow or presentation.
If you want more precision then you can alternatively use the thumbnail browser to examine your photos, and organise them into albums. There are plenty of automated tools to help, including options to "find similar photos", and face tagging (not too accurate in our tests, but still good enough to save you a little time).
Once you've chosen your favourite shots then you're able to share them online for free by opening a MAGIX Online Album. Or you can convert them all to a video slideshow (WMV, AVI, RM or MOV formats are supported), and even upload the finished movie to YouTube. (You'll need to download a separate component for this, though, in MAGIX MovieShow Maker, but Photo Manager 10 will point you in the right direction when you choose that option.)
And there are plenty of other management options here, covering everything from importing images from your camera, to printing your shots in a variety of layouts, or burning them to CD or DVD. Photo Manager 10 isn't perfect - the interface is occasionally confusing - but there's plenty of power here for a free tool, and if you're currently looking for a photo organiser then it's definitely worth a try.
