WinZip Registry Optimizer 1.0

WinZip Registry Optimizer is, just as the name suggests, another Registry cleaner - though with a few more extras than some of the competition.

So just as you'd expect, one click of the "Scan Registry" button will have the program checking your system for leftover or redundant Registry keys. You can then examine a detailed report, and decide what you'd like to be kept. And everything else will be deleted in another click.

A scheduler allows you to automate this process. An "Optimize Registry" module will defragment the Registry to save a little RAM and hard drive space. And there's also an option to back up the Registry, which might be very useful if the program has accidentally deleted something important and you need to undo any changes you've made.

Registry Optimizer also attempts to optimise your system by applying some Registry tweaks. There are only a few of these, though, and they're poorly chosen and described.

So, for instance, on our test PC we were told that "by default, all applications have the same priority for CPU time. This setting optimizes CPU priority to the application you are actively using." Sounds good, until you realise Windows does this already by default. Some of the other tweaks are similarly dubious, so if you try the program we'd recommend you ignore them all.

Please note, this trial version will fix a maximum of 50 errors. You'll need to purchase a licence before you can clean up everything it's uncovered.
