It used to be the case that viruses and other forms of malware were restricted to the realms of PCs. However, as Macs have become ever more popular in recent years, malware writers have started to turn their attention to the platform resulting in a huge surge in the number of viruses that could affect Mac users.
Macs are already fairly secure platforms, but ESET Cybersecurity adds an extra level of protection. By constantly monitoring your system the application can warn you if a program or web site attempts to infect your system or steal personal information.
ESET Cybersecurity will scan removable media such as CDs, DVDs and USB drives to ensure that these devices are not used to transmit malware from one computer to another. Additionally, the program will also scan email attachments, so you can rest safe in the knowledge that even if you were to find yourself infected, you will not pass anything on by sending infected emails.
It should be noted that ESET Cybersecurity is currently in the beta testing stages of development. While the current version is the release candidate and should therefore be very close to being the finished product, it is still not complete and therefore you may encounter the occasional problem.
ESET Cybersecurity will also give your Mac some protection against Windows-based malware threats. Ideal if you regularly move between your Bootcamp partition and OS X.
