GoogleClean 5.0

Just how much information about you gets transmitted just by being connected to the internet? Even if you open incognito windows in your web browser, you’d be surprised how much insider knowledge is leaked about you by your PC. And Google is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to spying on your habits – if you have any Google application installed on your computer chances are it’ll be feeding back information about you to the search engine behemoth.

GoogleClean is designed primarily to let you control what Google is able to glean from your online activities, not just through your web browser, but also specific Google applications like Picasa and Google Earth. The program asks you a few questions about your habits, and then presents you with a summary screen outlining what’s been found and a Quick Start button, which will quickly scrub all files that provide Google with information about you. You can also view more detail about what the program has detected by clicking the buttons on the left of the screen to access various sub-screens, such as YouTube cookies and Google Chrome’s security options.

Look out too for the Google Radar function – switch this on and the program will sit in the background looking out for Google’s attempts to replace the files you’ve scrubbed with new monitoring tools, and blocking them accordingly.

This trial version functions for 30 days before requiring registration, which costs around €15. You’ll need to provide an email address in order to obtain a free trial code.
