IObit Toolbox 1.1

IObit Toolbox is a free suite of 20 PC speedup, repair, security and other tools.

The Clean section appears first on the list, probably wise as it has the very best tools. The excellent IObit Uninstaller helps to uninstall programs properly; a Registry Cleaner locates and removes other leftover Registry entries; the Privacy Sweeper clears your activity history in Windows, browsers and other apps; the Disk Cleaner removes junk files to free up your hard drive space; and the File Shredder deletes confidential files so they can't be recovered.

Next up is the Optimize section, which includes modules to control your Windows startup programs, defragment the Registry and optimise your internet connection, Firefox and Chrome settings.

The Repair section can undelete lost files, detect and fix broken shortcuts, analyse and repair your file system. An Advanced Fix module provides one-click solutions to common problems, like "the font folder is not working" or "thumbnails are not working in Explorer". And other modules can help quickly resolve IE, Media Player and more general system issues.

The Security section seems relatively underpowered by comparison, including just a tool to list your running programs and a basic scanner for missing security patches.

And the oddly named "Control" section includes tools to help you analyse your use of hard drive space, detect duplicate files, and find and delete empty folders.

Some of these modules are of little value. Smart RAM is another pointless "memory optimiser", for instance, and Process Manager is like Task Manager, only less powerful. There's plenty of more useful functionality available here, though, and if you're at all interested in these kind of PC management tools then IObit Toolbox is definitely worth trying. Especially as it's portable - just unzip the program onto a USB flash drive and you can run it anywhere.
