There are a number of potential dangers associated with connecting your computer to the internet and we are constantly reminded of the importance of installing anti-virus and other protection software. But it is not just files that can cause problems for your computer, there are also a number of dangerous web sites that may attempt to install a virus or steal personal information from you.

Norton Safe Web Lite is a free browser plugin that constantly checkst he web sites you visit to ensure that they are safe. Norton are constantly crawling the internet and checking that various web sites are safe so they can be rated and added to a database. As you surf, the sites you visit can be compared to entries in the database and if a page you attempt to load is found to be potentially dangerous, you will be warned.

The plugin can display safety information about all of the web sites you visit so you can make an educated decision about whether or not it can be trusted - this is particularly important when making online purchases or handing over any sort of personal information.

Norton Web Safe Lite can also be used to search the internet, and any unsafe sites will be automatically filtered out of the search results so you know that any of the sites you visit can be trusted.
