Tweak-7 is a PC optimisation and cleanup suite that has been specifically designed to work with Windows 7.
The program includes many of the tools that you'd expect to find in any Windows speedup package, though. There are applets to clean and defragment your Registry, find and delete junk files or broken shortcuts, optimise your internet connection, and disable unnecessary Windows startup programs, for instance.
Tweak-7 does provide some extra tools that you won't see in most of the competition, though. So for example it can turn up to 256MB of your PCs memory into a RAM disc (on 32-bit Windows PCs), which can help to improve the performance of some applications. And a security applet helps to lock down your PC by restricting access to the applications or folders you specify.
Most of Tweak-7 is dedicated to Windows tweaks, however. The program provides easy access to useful options for your hard drive, CPU, Windows system folders, User Account Control, Windows restrictions, your visual settings, Internet Explorer, Outlook and more.
Unfortunately not all of these tweaks are effective. Tweak-7 includes a supposed "CPU system cache optimisation" that hasn't done anything useful in years, for example.
And the program's advice is occasionally counter-productive. It suggests that "sometimes it makes sense" to delete the Windows prefetching files, for instance, but this will only slow you down.
Still, there are plenty of tools on offer here, so if you're interested in optimising your Windows 7 system then Tweak-7 can do a lot to help.
Tweak-7 has many useful cleanup and optimisation features, but it also includes a few ineffective options that are best avoided
