Cooliris is a powerful browser add-on that provides a stylish 3D image browser for a host of popular websites.

You might have just carried out a search at Google Images, say, and you're looking at the results. Click the Cooliris button on your browser toolbar, and the usual layout of thumbnails disappears, to be replaced by a 3D video wall of the images. It looks great, and if you want to see more then you simply drag the images to the left and the wall scrolls accordingly, revealing just as many pictures as you need.

None of this functionality gets in your way, of course, and so you can double-click an image to view it full-size, or save it to your hard drive just as before.

And Cooliris also works with image searches at Yahoo!, Big, Ask, AOL, Flickr, Photobucket, Corbis, Picasa, Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, and many other sites, as well as YouTube for videos.

The program also provides its own portal-type feature that uses the same interface to give you access to news stories, music, TV clips, movie trailers and more. And if you don't feel like browsing manually, then an improved search tool makes it quick and easy to find the content you need.

Verdict

Do you need Cooliris?  Probably not.  It looks great, though, and you may find it easier to use than the image search tools on its supported sites
