Scrabble may well be the most famous word game in the world, but Scramble look set to amass an equally eager following. Since coming to fame after the launch of a Facebook application, the iPhine version of Scramble takes advantage of the iPhone's touch screen for frenzied word finding action.

Working with a 4x4 or 5x5 grid of letters, your task is to find as many words as you can working against the clock. Simply drag your finger round the screen to highlight the letters that make up a word to start racking up your score.

This simple idea makes for a hugely addictive game in which you are constantly aiming to beat your previous best. But there is even more fun to be had by test your word knowledge against another opponent.

There is also the option of playing against friends using the Play'n'Pass mode, but a 3G or wifi connection can also be used to start a multiplayer game. The use of friend codes allows for the creation of a list of contacts and when competing against others, this game is sure to last a long time.


Oranges are not the only fruit and Scrabble is not the only word game - Scramble could just give the king of letters a run for its money.
