Trikanoid is an interesting remake of the 80's arcade game, "Arkanoid".
If that doesn't help, essentially it's a new spin on the old Atari "breakout" game. You control a paddle, which sits in front of a pattern of tiles. You fire a ball against the tiles, destroying one, then must move the paddle to catch the ball and bounce it back. If the ball gets past the paddle, you lose a life. If you keep it bouncing back until all the tiles are gone, then you move onto the next level.
There are, of course, lots of twists and turns throughout the game. Sometimes you'll have to "catch" falling tiles to win extra points, for instance. There are "aliens" to destroy, and quirky little bonuses here and there - like a moment when three balls appear at once - as well as a very big End Of Game monster if you manage to clear all 33 levels.
And while the nature of the game means it's never going to be the most visually appealing, Trikanoid really is very well presented, with high resolution backgrounds, and quality animations and graphics. Even the music (a notorious weak point for this kind of project) manages to not be annoying.
Please note, though, Trikanoid's controls don't follow the usual PC route of having the [Enter] key as the selector. So when you're faced with the opening menu, use the arrow keys to navigate to the option you need, but then press the space bar to select it.
A fun remake of Arkanoid with impressive graphics and audio
