While there are limited number of image formats that ere in general use - such as JPEG and PNG - there are in fact hundreds that could be used. It can be extremely frustrating to receive and image from someone only to discover that you are not able to open it, and if you were to install a specialised viewer every time this happened, you could quickly end up with a huge number of graphic viewers installed.
XnViewer can help you to avoid this scenario. It is an image viewer that supports over 400 image types, so the chances of encountering a file it is not able to open are extremely slight. As well as opening images, the program can also be used to convert between formats, and XnView is capable of exporting to more than 50 formats.
But the program can also be used as an image editor, performing basis tasks such as cropping, rotating and resizing as well as applying filters and special effects. Support for lossless JPEG cropping and rotation allows for the editing of digital photos without compromising on quality and the batch conversion facility makes it possible to edit folders full of image in one fell swoop, and the renaming option works in much the same way.
XnView can display EXIF information and generate contact sheets as well as working in slideshow mode and offering support for animated image formats. Whether you are putting together a web site, working with digital photos or sorting out a large collection of image, XnView has something to offer you.
