Want to know what is on television but don’t want to wait for the set to fire up and the EPG to load? Travelling home on the train and want to check what programmes will greet you when you return home? TVguide is the app you’ve been look for, bringing a simple TV schedule to the screen of your iPhone so it’s always to hand – unlike the paper based alternatives.
The app can be configured to display a range of different channel listings. Indicate that you have Sky, and the relevant channel will be display; likewise for Freeview, Freesat, cables and more. But the chances are that you are not interested in all of the channels you receive, so TVguide enables you display only those you want to know about. Similarly, the listings can be re-ordered so the channels you watch most often appear at the top of the list.
For each channel, the programme which is currently being broadcast, along with details of the next two are displayed. Click the listing for a channel and you can read a more detailed description of each programme. This is something of a no-frills TV guide, and there are others which boast more features, but for speed and ease of use, TVguide has a great deal to offer.
TVGuide is not the most powerful or feature packed TV listings app, but it does its job and it does it very well
