Adobe Creative Cloud pricing and plans: How much does it cost?

There's isn't a one-size fits all way of buying Creative Cloud. Adobe knows that different people will use it in different ways and some might just want to have a single app rather than the entire suite. To cater for everyone's needs, there a various different price plans available whether you're an individual, small business or a school.

If you're a student or a teacher then you can get Creative Cloud at a discount (up to 65 percent). It requires an institutional affiliation and you can choose from the complete package or photography – although the latter is not a different price to the individual plan.

Adobe Creative Cloud trial: Can I use a free trial?

If you're not sure whether Creative Cloud is the right software for you, Adobe offer a free trial so you can try it out. You can test drive any app from the Creative Cloud suite for free over a period of 30 days. Simply head to this page on Adobe's website, choose the app and download to start your free trial.

This is a Creative Cloud free membership and includes access to file syncing, sharing features, 2 GB of storage space and free levels of services.

Adobe Creative Cloud: What's included?

As you'll have noticed from the above pricing plans, there are three different packages to choose from –whether you're a new or existing customer, individual, business or school. Below we've outlined exactly what you get with each one starting with the most basic.

Creative Cloud Single App

As the name suggests, the package is for those looking to just use one specific desktop app from Adobe's Creative Cloud suite. You can choose one app from the following: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat DC Pro, Adobe Muse, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition and InCopy.

As well as your chosen app, you get a ProSite portfolio website, Typekit desktop and web fonts and 20 GB of cloud storage space.

Creative Cloud Photography

Obviously aimed at photographers, this Creative Cloud package is good value for money and gives you what you need to manage, organize, edit, enhance and share your snaps. It includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom for desktop, web and mobile – simple.

Creative Cloud Complete

Opting for the complete package effective give you an access all areas pass to Creative Cloud. You can download and use any app from the portfolio (see the list below). You'll also get a ProSite portfolio website, Typekit desktop and web fonts and 20 GB of cloud storage space.

By subscribing to Creative Cloud as a member you will get upgrades to any of the software included in your package for free when they are available. This means you won't end up using an old version – unless you don't connect your computer for the internet in order to check for and install updates, of course.

Adobe Creative Cloud: Do I need an internet connection?

Although Creative Cloud is an online digital service, you don't need an internet connection to use the desktop apps.

Adobe does point out that you'll need a connection the first time you install and license your apps. Desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days. Annual members can use apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Monthly members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode.

A Creative Cloud membership allows you to install and activate desktop applications on two computers - regardless of operating system - for use by the individual associated with the membership.

Creative Cloud is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and on the Max side, OS X v10.7, v10.8, v10.9, or v10.10. System requirements for individual apps vary so below are the specs for Photoshop 2014 but you can get details for each one here.
