Where to buy a PS4 without pre-ordering in UK; how to get a PS4 tomorrow, how to get a PS4 before Christmas

Who is stocking PS4 - where to buy a new PlayStation

We explain where you can buy a PS4 right now, even if you haven't pre-ordered. Plus: how to order a PlayStation 4 and get it before Christmas. For more, see PS4 release date, specs and compatability issues.

Players. They got you. The launch of Sony's PlayStation 4 has crept up, and from tomorrow everyone who doesn't have one is likely to want one. (Everyone apart from those clowns who like Xbox consoles, but let's discount those weirdos. Or at least read: Xbox One vs PS4 games console comparison review.)

The best thing to do if you want to get a PS4 right now is to have pre-ordered one months ago. But that's no use unless you have a time machine. Fear not, however, you can get a PS4 as soon as they launch, although it may require a little queueing. And if you simply need to get a PS4 for a Christmas gift, you can do that from the comfort of your computer chair.

Here we explain how to get a PS4 right now, and how to order a PS4 to arrive before Christmas. The PS4 will set you back £349, although it is available in various bundles. See also: PS4 price in UK; how much will the PlayStation 4 cost?

Depending on how popular the PS4 proves, you may need to queue up. But ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury's, GAME and Argos all claim to have stock without any need to pre-order. There'll also be an undisclosed number of consoles available at Sony's official midnight launch event in London, but if you aren't queueing there now, you probably aren't getting in.

Game told us it had a limited but decent supply of great bundles including the Killzone Mega Pack available to purchase at more than 300 stores from midnight. They will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Argos will let you reserve a console now via the Argos website, and pick it up in store after midnight.

Tesco and Sainsbury's haven't announced which stores will stock the PS4, but we recommend you head to the bigger ones if you want a console this evening. Expect to be limited to one PS4 per customer at all major stores. ASDA is the only one that has announced this as policy, however. With all of these stores we recommend calling before you set out.

ASDA has also publised a list of stores with stock, which you can find here: http://www.videogamer.com/news/this_is_where_you_can_buy_a_ps4_from_tomorrow_without_a_pre-order.html. Currys PC World will be selling the PS4 at some stage, but they aren't currently listing the console.

You don't need to worry about any of this if you merely require a PS4 to arrive before Christmas. You can buy one from Amazon right now, and get it in time. Or let the queue die down in any of the above outlets, and head over in a few days. See also: PS4 event E3 2013: as it happened.
