Best broadband deals UK: Fastest broadband deals
Virgin's fibre optic broadband is very fast and reliable, available for £12 per month for 9 months. After that, it'll cost you £19 per month. Line rental is additional, and costs £19 per month, and there's also a £14.99 activation fee to watch out for.
It's by no means the cheapest option, but the 50Mbps internet speed is faster than most options offered by rival providers. It has won plenty of broadband awards for overall satisfaction, reliability and speed, so is highly recommended.
50Mbps is brilliant for most single users or couples, but if you share your home with a bigger family who tend to use the internet at once, you might want to consider opting for 100Mbps or even 200Mbps. Virgin offers the former for £19 per month for 9 months, after which it'll cost £24 per month if you continue. There's the same £19 per month line rental and £14.99 activation fee.
If there's an online gamer or four in your household, upgrading to 200Mbps is going to give you brilliantly fast internet with absolutely no lag. It'll cost you £25 per month for 9 months, and then £32 per month after that, in addition to the £19 per month line rental and £14.99 activation fee.
Plus, if you're looking for a broadband bundle that includes TV there are some more offers to incorporate TV available on Virgin's website here.
Best broadband deals UK: Cheapest broadband deals
If you're not so worried about your internet's speed but are more concerned about its price, you might be interested in some of these other broadband deals.
Sky offers great deals for new and existing customers, normally in partnership with an upcoming movie. At the moment, if you join with Sky TV, you can get Sky Broadband Unlimited for £5 per month for 12 months, after which it'll go up to £10 per month if you choose to continue. Sky Line Rental at £17.40 per month from the start of the contract. That's for 17Mbps download speeds, so much slower than even Virgin's basic package, but that is reflected by its price tag. Plus, you get a free Lenovo Laptop, 32in LG TV or £100 voucher as an added bonus when you join.
As a new customer, you can get Sky Broadband Unlimited for free for 12 months, after which it'll go up to £10 per month if you choose to continue. Sky Line Rental at £17.40 per month from the start of the contract. That's for 17Mbps download speeds. Plus, you get a £100 voucher as an added bonus when you join.
For the same price as the above deal, you can get faster 38Mbps Fibre internet, but the downfall here is that you won't get unlimited usage. It's capped at 25GB, which might not be enough for some users including movie streamers and gamers.
Another option is the speedier 38Mbps (note that that's still slower than Virgin's 50Mbps base speed) with unlimited usage, for £10 per months for 12 months after which it'll increase to £20. There's the same £17.40 per month line rental too.
The final option is the fastest 76Mbps option with unlimited usage, for £15 per month for 12 months after which it'll increase to £25. There's the same £17.40 per month line rental too.
Plusnet has some good offers right now, including this 38Mbps offer which'll get you a 18 months for just £5 (plus the £17.99 line rental) after which it's £14.99 per month until your 18 month contract is over.
You can also get 17Mbps for free for 18 months, after which it'll cost the lower price of £9.99 per month plus the line rental.
Plusnet may not provide the fastest broadband available, but it has some outstanding qualities that helped it win Broadband Genie awards for Best Value Provider 2016 and Most Recommended Provider 2016.
Another cheap broadband option comes from TalkTalk, with cheap internet at just £3.75 per month for 18 months, after which you'll be charged £7.50 per month should you choose to continue. There's a £17.70 line rental charge every month from the start, too.
If you need a bit more speed, go for the 38Mbps option, which is £8.75 per month.
Also offering a cheap broadband deal is EE, which currently has a deal that gets you unlimited broadband for £1 per month for 18 months plus £17.50 line rental.
The faster option is £10 per month for 18 months with £17.50 per month.
