The Apple Watch is now available to order online, and it has also finally arrived in Apple Stores. It's a brilliant piece of kit on its own, but there are lots of nifty accessories that can help you protect it and add extra functionality. Here, we've rounded-up the best charging stands, docking stations, cases and other accessories for the Apple Watch. Read: How to choose your Apple Watch - The complete buying guide.
Best Apple Watch charging stands
Whether you want one for your bedside table, desk or somewhere else, a charger stand is going to be a worthwhile investment to go with your shiny new Apple Watch smartwatch. Not only will it charge the battery while you sleep, it'll also be a great way of having it on display.
The supplied Apple Watch charger is neat but a little fiddly so having a nice stand is going to make your life much easier. Most of the third-party charger stands simply have a hole cut for the official magnetic charger (above) to sit in rather than having the functionality built-in.
Native Union Dock for Apple Watch
$49.99 (available August)
You'll have to wait a little while to get the Native Union Dock but this one looks great and can be used vertically or horizontally. The Dock is made from matt graphite silicone and aircraft grade aluminium and features a rotating arm so you get postion the angle of the Apple Watch. It will launch in graphite with other colours coming later.
Dodocase Charging Stand for Apple Watch
$99 (Available to order now but expect to wait 4-6 weeks before it arrives).
If metal isn't your thing then the Dodocase Charging Stand is a great alternative, hand crafted from California American Walnut in San Francisco. A solid steel base keeps the stand routed and sturdy so you can lift the watch from the magnetic charger with one hand. A travel mode also means you can wrap the charger and cable neatly to take the stand with you.
Nomad Stand for Apple Watch
Simple and elegant is what you get if you opt for the Nomad Stand for Apple Watch. The single piece of machined aircraft grade aluminium will neatly hold the magnetic charger and has a hidden channel at the back for the wire. It's available in space gray or silver and has a non-slip rubber foot and copper ballast to keep things secure.
Twelve South HiRise
There's more metal on offer if you go with the Twelve South HiRise for Apple Watch, this time in silver or black. As with others, the supplied magnetic charger sits neatly in the stand and strategically placed silicone rubber protects your shiny wearable investment. The angle means you can carry on using the Apple Watch while it charges.
This is a great option if you don't want to spend as much money and also holds an iPhone for good measure. The official magnetic charging cable wraps around the WatchStand's core, which slides down into the post to neatly hide it away. The Apple Watch will sit in a regular position if the strap opens up, otherwise the post means it will need to sit sideways.
Pad & Quill Timber Catchall
$99 (around £70)
The Timber Catchall from Pad & Quill is a gorgeously designed Apple Watch charging station/organiser that provides a neat place to charge your Apple Watch. It can also be used to store and charge your iPhone, and there's a space for other bits and bobs like keys, too. It's handmade from a single piece of hardwood, with two types of wood available to choose from.
Calypso Timeless Moment
139 Euros (£98)
This one's a bit different to the other charging stands but there's something really appealing about its arch shape, which provides a stylish place to rest your Watch as it charges over night. It's hand crafted from Italian leather, available in four different colours.
Best Apple Watch cases
We're not entirely sure how we feel about putting a case on an Apple Watch. It's without doubt that any case is going to disguise the gorgeous design of the Apple Watch and while we're happy to do that with our smartphones, a wearable gadget that's as much about fashion as it is about tech should be durable enough to wear without worrying about needing a case.
However, within days of the Apple Watch's venture into the wild, reports arrived to suggest that the aluminium model of the Apple Watch is rather easy to scratch. If you're worried, there are a few options.
X-Doria Defense Edge
X-Doria has created a protective case called the Defense Edge for the Apple Watch. It snaps onto your Apple Watch, covering all of the Apple Watch edges but leaving the screen, magnetic charging element and Digital Crown free for you to use. It comes in gold, silver, blue or red and is available for both sizes of Apple Watch.
Spigen Rugged Armour for Apple Watch
Spigen's Rugged Armour case is a bit different to X-Doria's offering in that its made with a flexible TPU material rather than a hard metal. This offers protection against bumps and scratches, but as with the Defense Edge doesn't cover the Digital Crown, screen or magnetic charging element and heartrate sensors on the underside.
Best Apple Watch screen protectors
Additionally, there are also screen protectors available to protect against scratches on the Apple Watch's display itself. They're all pretty much the same, simply sticking to the surface of the Apple Watch as a thin protective layer, but some that we've seen around the web include the Skinomi TechSkin (from £9), and the JETech tempered glass screen protector (£5.95).
Best Apple Watch straps
There are many different Apple Watch straps available from Apple but they're a bit on the pricey side (to say the least). Here are some good alternative options.
Casetify straps for Apple Watch
Casetify offers a series of colourful and quirky watch straps that you can even customise with your own images. There are some really, really nice pre-made designs available, varying in price. Take a look and see if one takes your fancy on the Casetify website.
Monowear also offers some really stylish-looking watch straps, many of which are very similar to Apple's own leather and metal bands, but much cheaper. Take a look at the collection on the Monowear website.
Olixar Band adapter for Apple Watch
If you've already got a watch strap that you're particularly fond of, you can attach it to the Apple Watch using an adapter, like this one available for just £14.99 from Mobile Fun.

Best Apple Watch battery packs
Nomad Pod battery for Apple Watch
This portable battery pack for Apple Watch can help make the smartwatch last longer if you haven't got access to a plug socket to charge it. It's a small gadget with a 1800mAh battery inside that's designed to provide four full charges of the Apple Watch. It can also be used to charge other USB-powered devices.
It's available in Silver or Space Grey and costs $59.95 (Around £40).
