Windows Vista gets Ad-Aware

September 2, 2007

Lavasoft now has Vista-compatible versions of its Ad-Aware 2007 anti-spyware line. The Free, Plus and Pro versions all now work with the 32bit version of Microsoft's new OS.

You can download the new version from the PC Advisor's sister title PC World's Download centre. Or, if you already have Ad-Aware installed, fire it up and click the Update button on the start-up screen to get the new, compatible version.

I just installed the new free version onto my Vista laptop, and both the install and initial scan went smoothly. And I was happy to see that the program doesn't list tracking cookies as a spyware infection, as some programs have done in the past, but instead classifies them under a 'Privacy Objects' tab.

But in our recent tests of the XP version of Ad-Aware 2007 Plus, the program did a poor job of detecting spyware and adware.

Try buying a 3 year subscription and being told they lost your data so they now want you to jump through whatever hoops to show them your fingerprint ! Really, how about I show them my fingerprint up their anus as I never agreed to any of their ridiculous MS kind of schemes nor did I buy into them. Adaware needs to stick to their agreements or refund whatever licenses purchased !

First, if Vista was all what it's supposed to be, what the hell does anyone need Adaware for ? I think it's far past time that MS actually stands up and provides what it says it provides instead of what they want us to believe it's providing which is far beyond questionable and nearer to out and out lying, no crap, no bash, just MS horseshit flying back to where it belongs in Redmond.
