News: SpeedBit speeds up YouTube & iTunes
Anyone who watches videos on the internet is familiar with this problem: You go to one of the big video sites such as YouTube or Metacafe, you see a video you like and that can be downloaded immediately, but after a few seconds the film suddenly stops and you find yourself staring at a motionless movie player. Of course, you can fiddle with the pause button or make a cup of coffee while the player downloads a few more seconds of film, but the viewing experience has lost some of the excitement.

Hitwise, which collects internet usage data directly from ISPs to measure the traffic to more than 800,000 webites, has tapped the six Web 2.0 companies most likely to reach the soaring success of YouTube, Wikipedia or Flickr. To do so, it looks at the types of early adopters now using the sites.

Now the geeks can have a full-featured Linux OS booted from a USB stick or thumb drive. Linux distributor Mandriva's Flash 4GB provides Mandriva Linux 2007 KDE 32bit, which needs no installation - being ready to boot off the USB 2.0 stick. Plug in the stick, turn on the PC, and Mandriva Linux is ready to use in a few seconds.
