News: RealPlayer 11 enables easy video downloads
RealNetworks have announced a new version of its RealPlayer media player software. Its makers claim RealPlayer 11 will be the first media player to offer one-click video downloads of embedded web-based content. The online player will also support rival formats Flash and QuickTime. The concept capitalises on the popularity of online video sites such as YouTube.

News: Apple TV links with YouTube
Apple is bringing YouTube content to the living room with its Apple TV home-entertainment system. Beginning in mid-June, Apple TV will wirelessly stream videos directly from YouTube and play them on a user’s widescreen TV.

Adobe has released a public beta version of the ColdFusion 8 web development software. ColdFusion 8 is designed for developers building dynamic websites and internet applications, and the public beta is a feature-complete preview, according to the company.

Panasonic has announced the DMC-FX100. Panasonic claims the Lumix DMC-FX100 is the world’s first 12.2Mp digital camera with 28mm wide-angle lens. This follows yesterday's announcement from Casio of the UK's first 12Mp compact digital camera.

News: Rewriteable Blu-ray Disc prices to drop
Ritek plans to start mass producing BD-RE (Blu-Ray Disc Rewritable) discs as well as HD DVD-RE (high definition) discs in the third quarter of this year. Taiwanese disc maker Ritek's move is seen as an important step towards reducing the cost of rewriteable Blu-ray Discs for users.

News: SpeedBit speeds up YouTube & iTunes
Anyone who watches videos on the internet is familiar with this problem: You go to one of the big video sites such as YouTube or Metacafe, you see a video you like and that can be downloaded immediately, but after a few seconds the film suddenly stops and you find yourself staring at a motionless movie player. Of course, you can fiddle with the pause button or make a cup of coffee while the player downloads a few more seconds of film, but the viewing experience has lost some of the excitement.
